Parish girls second in TAPPS state tennis
Boys finish fourth April 29, 2008
Parish’s doubles team of Margaret Edwards and Kelly Rathbun reached the TAPPS Class 5A championships to lead the Lady Panthers to a second-place state finish in Waco last weekend. After helping Parish win the TAPPS regional team title, Lady Panthers’ Molly Plummer & Barbara Alexander also advanced to the state tournament before losing to the 2007 state doubles champs. Freshman Victoria Coffee also qualified for the state tournament in singles.
Led by freshmen Manik Chhabra and Blake Andrews, Parish took fourth-place in the overall team standings at the TAPPS Class 5A state Tennis Tournament in Waco. Chhabra advanced to the singles semifinals before falling to the eventual state champion. Andrews advanced to the quarterfinals. The boys also combined to win Parish’s first district team championship to qualify for regionals.
