Carpool Resources & Early Morning Practice Tips

Practice Location: Greenhill School Pool

Upper School Drop Off: 5:50-5:55 AM
Middle School Drop Off:6:20-6:25 AM
Greenhill School is located north and west of the intersection of Spring Valley and Midway and is bordered on the north side of the campus by Hornet Road.

Enter the Greenhill campus from Midway Rd at the light at Hornet Road and proceed in the right "through lane" along the north side of the campus all the way to the end of the parking lot.  The Natatorium is the last building before the tennis courts.  You may loop around and let your child out at the covered area. The door to the pool is on the northwest corner. IT WILL BE OPEN FROM 5:50 AM ONWARD. The swimmers need to be in the water by 6:00 a.m. for Upper School, and 6:30 a.m. for Middle School.

Student Drivers who are registered with Parish may drive to the practices – DO NOT PARK IN FACULTY SPOTS.
If you are a parent and plan to stay and need to park, please be sure you park in the spaces along the tennis courts. YOU MAY NOT PARK IN ANY FACULTY SPACES. Last year, some of the parents made use of the track for a predawn walk while the students were swimming. Others used the time to pick up a hot breakfast for their carload and coffee for themselves.

Carpool Pick Up: Arrive by 7:30 a.m.
Enter campus same as drop off instructions.  Park your car in a space, not at the curb by the covered area.
Please plan to arrive at the campus by 7:30 so that you can insure your carload is ready to leave promptly by 7:45 a.m.  Leaving Greenhill and driving to Parish to the carpool drop off point will take you 7-10 minutes.

Guidelines
• Each swimmer needs to understand that we have a "LEAVE NO TRACE" policy with the facilities manager at Greenhill.
• All the swim gear, towels, school bags, and water bottles need to be picked up at the end of practice.
• There will be very limited time to shower and change for school in order to load the cars by 7:45 - AND WE HAVE MANY MORE SWIMMERS THIS YEAR! Please make your child aware of that limitation. We will ask the high school kids to help remind the younger ones to dress quickly.
• It is our goal to get everyone to school without collecting ANY tardy slips. I believe we were successful in that goal last year, but it takes team work!
• Upper School swimmers will be dismissed ahead of the Middle School swimmers to the showers. Due to the limited number of shower and restroom stalls and in the interest of giving everyone a fair amount of time to shower and dress, swimmers must not remain in the shower stall to dress or within the restroom stalls.
• Please note that if a particular child makes their car tardy more than once, his or her parent most likely will need to insure their arrival at Parish in the future.

Early Morning Tips:
• Swimmers need suit, towel, goggles and WATER BOTTLE for workouts.
• Greenhill has limited number of flippers, pull buoys, and kickboards for our use, but swimmers are encouraged to bring their own gear in a mesh bag since there are so many more of us this year.
• Have school and swim bags ready and if necessary loaded in the car before bed the night before.
• Prepare sack breakfast for after practice.
• Roll your sleepy swimmer out of bed & into their practice suit. (NOTE: Team suits are only for competitions.)
• Most swimmers do best if they have a little fruit juice or Gatorade or water only before their workout.  Some may want a power bar, but do not feed them a full breakfast - especially any dairy!
• Send your child's sack breakfast, or work out with your carpool to take turns providing food for your car. Suggestions are peanut butter and banana sandwich, smoothies, fruit or fruit juice, tortilla and egg roll-ups, protein power bar and more water. Remember they will be eating this in the car on the way to Parish.
