Regional playoffs this Saturday, May 3 April 30, 2008
The Parish Episcopal Lady Panthers have completed their second full season of varsity softball and have surpassed their win total from last year with a 20-9 overall record and 9-5 record in district play. They finished third in district and were five errors away from possibly winning it all.

It was another amazing season. Freshman Sam Springer recorded all 19 wins and threw a Parish single season record 181 strikeouts. All-district honors were revealed and seven girls made First or Second Team. TAPPS 2-5A Second Team members are junior Kelsey Musselman, sophomores McClain Stone and Blaire Butler and freshman Kat Savoy. First Team selections are juniors Chelsea Jones and Sandra Palmer and freshman Sam Springer. Additionally, the following were voted by their district's schools as receiving specialty honors: Chelsea Jones, Defensive player of the year; Sam Springer, Newcomer of the year; and our very own Coach Griffin as Coach of the year.

The Lady Panthers ventured into their second straight post-season when they faced Ft. Worth Christian last Saturday, April 26, at Argyle Liberty Christian with a win and advancing to the state regional finals to play Ft. Bend Baptist, the defending state champs.  That game will be held this Saturday, May 3, at Baylor University's Getterman Field in Waco.

Softball Update
Mar 11, 2008
The Parish varsity softball girls have jumped out to their best start in team history. They now sit at 9-3 and came within two runs of making it to the Carrollton Christian tournament championship when they lost to traditional powerhouse 6A Austin St. Michael’s. Freshman Sam Springer pitched a two-hitter and struck out eight in the loss. The girls opened the tourney with big wins over Rockwall Heritage, The Highlands, Denton Calvary and tourney host Carrollton Christian before falling to the eventual tourney champs. Junior Chelsea Jones and freshman Sam Springer made the CCA All-Tourney team.  District play opens up Monday, March 17, when the Lady Panthers travel to face Tyler Grace.

Softball Update
Feb 27, 2008
The Lady Panther softball season is gaining momentum. They are currently 5-1 losing their first game of the season in the Parish softball tourney final last Saturday to FW Christian. They will be in their second tourney this Friday and Saturday at the Carrollton Christian Tourney at the Josey Ranch Complex in Carrollton. Please come out and support the lady panthers as they shoot to win this tourney and get themselves set for their district opener next Monday, March 3, at The Shelton School.

The Lady Panthers consist of juniors Sandra Palmer, Chelsea Jones, and Kelsey Musselman. Sophomores are Alex Storey, McClain Stone, Caroline Stockard and Elise Budagher. Freshmen are Sam Springer, Meredith Carey, Stephanie Sarles, Kelsey Nicol, Catherine Savoy, Emily Dorward, and Cara Beasley. Waiting in the wings to join their team after a great basketball season are Whitney Keith, Blaire Butler and Marielle LeMasters.

There will be a quick meeting after school at 3:30pm for 5/6 grade softball players next Wednesday, March 5, and 7/8 on Friday, March 7, by Coach Griffin’s office. Middle schoolers that plan on playing spring softball this year should be in attendance.

Lady Panthers Win Season Opener
Feb 6, 2008
The 2008 softball season is off to a bang. The depleted squad traveled to 6A perennial power Bishop Dunne and walked away with a 7-6 victory. Freshman Samantha Springer threw a two-hitter with six strikeouts. Junior Sandra Palmer led the way going 2-2 with 3 RBI’s, a double and a triple. The game was 7-3 going into the final inning, and after two costly errors the score was 7-5 with a runner at second and the tying run at the plate. The batter hit a shot to left center scoring the first runner and then trying to score herself, junior shortstop Chelsea Jones threw a bullet to junior catcher Kelsey Musselman for the final out. The lady panthers will have their home opener this Thursday at 6pm vs. another 6A power Trinity Christian Addison. Please come out and support your lady panthers softball team as they quest for a district championship.
