Lady Panther Softball Concludes a Successful Season  May 7, 2007
Parish Episcopal School’s Lady Panther softball team has come of age. In its inaugural varsity season, the team made it all the way to the first round of the playoffs after a season full of accomplishments.

The Lady Panthers started the season with a loss to Fort Worth Temple, but rebounded to beat TAPPS 6A Trinity Christian Academy, 12-8, in the team’s second game. The win against TCA came with two members of the Parish team playing their first ever softball game. After the win, the team realized it could play with anyone and went on to win five of its next six games that included claiming the PES Softball Classic championship. The Lady Panthers opened its first district play with wins over Shelton and Lutheran and finished with decisive wins over Prestonwood and First Baptist. The final two regular season wins propelled Parish into the first round of the playoffs against a tough Houston Second Baptist team, in which the Lady Panthers lost the game 0-12.

It was a good first year for the young team that had 11 underclassmen out of 14 players on the roster. Sophomore Sandra Palmer was named to the TAPPS District 2-5A 1st team and was nominated District 2-5A Newcomer of the Year. Sophomore Chelsea Jones was second in voting for District Defensive Player of the Year and was named to the 2nd Team All-District. Rounding out the All-District awards were Blaire Butler-2nd Team All-District, freshman McClain Stone – All-District Honorable Mention and junior Amanda Daum - All-District Honorable Mention.

In the Dallas Morning News final private school regular season statistics, Jones finished 1st in stolen bases with 44 and 10th in batting with a .436 average. Daum finished 7th in pitching with a 1.12 ERA, 12th in victories with eight and 8th in strikeouts with 90. Freshman Whitney Keith and Butler tied for 1st in homeruns with three apiece, followed by sophomore Kelsey Musselman in 7th with two. Palmer was 4th in stolen bases with 31, while Stone and Musselman finished tied for 9th with 24.
