Parish Boys Basketball 2007-2008
Oct 16, 2007
The boys’ basketball program at Parish is expanding rapidly. It is now the largest sport in Panther Athletics with over 130 student-athletes participating. We will have a dozen or more teams from the 5th grade DPL level up to our TAPPS Varsity team.

With this increased level of participation, and our planned growth of all sports in both the middle school and Varsity level programs, it is necessary to make some organizational changes within the Athletic Department to coach, train, condition and serve these student-athletes.

Mr. Rod Beam will become the head coach of the Varsity team as well as direct the coaching staffs of the sub-varsity teams. Coach Beam brings more than 28 years of experience to our court from his tenures at Mesquite ISD and Richardson ISD as well as his time within Panther Athletics. Coach Beam’s connection with the student-athletes through the classroom will also be a benefit.

Mr. Chase Palamar will become the Junior Varsity coach. Coach Palamar has been instrumental in developing several of our middle school DPL teams and has coaching experience in Virginia, prior to moving to Texas. Coach Palamar’s teaching connection will also be an asset to the JV player’s development.

Mr. Bart Ensley will join the staff as a skills and shooting coach. Coach Ensley brings over 10 years of coaching experience to the staff. Prior to his coaching days in AAU, Dallas Lincoln and Paul Quinn College, Coach Ensley played college ball at Louisiana Tech and Paul Quinn.

Mr. Duke Pettijohn will be also be added to the staff as a skills and conditioning coach. Coach Pettijohn is a member of the Dallas Desperados Arena Football team and brings college athletic experience to the program as well. As a successful high school athlete, he chose football over basketball at Syracuse University but still has the love of the game and coaching to high school student-athletes.

Mr. John Griffin will be a skills and specialist coach in the program as well as continue his duties as the Athletic Department Coordinator. As the Athletic Department liaison to the Dallas Parochial League, Coach Griffin will further develop and enhance our 18 Middle School sports. Coach Griffin’s over 15 years of coaching and his experience in managing large programs both at the DPL and TAPPS levels will continue to be an asset to the department. Coach Griffin will also continue in his role as Head Varsity Fast Pitch Softball Coach.

Further Coaching additions (primarily middle school) will be announced as they are finalized.
