Parish caps milestone season Mar 3, 2008 The Lady Panthers reached their first TAPPS state girls basketball tournament to highlight Parish’s most successful season. Parish lost to Tomball Concordia during the semifinals in San Antonio on Feb. 29.
In addition to winning the District 2-5A title, Parish was ranked in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches’ state poll and the North Texas poll of The Dallas Morning News.
Senior Lucy Keith was named the district’s Most Valuable Player, sophomore Whitney Keith was the Defensive Player of the Year and Chesnie Brackens the Freshman of the Year. Parish’s Jason Samuels was the Coach of the Year.
Selected second-team all-district was Brooke Thoele. Honorable mention selections were Amanda Daum, Marielle LeMasters, Blaire Butler and Camie Robertson.
Lady Panthers begin final four play this Friday TAPPS to stream state tourney games online Feb 27, 2008 The Parish girls’ basketball team begins TAPPS state final four play with a semifinal game against Tomball Lutheran Concordia this Friday, Feb. 29, in San Antonio. Tip-off is at 1:00pm at the Blossom Athletic Center (12002 Jones Maltsberger Rd.).
If you can’t make it to San Antonio, TAPPS has announced that the games will be live streamed this Friday and Saturday. Just go to the TAPPS web site, and click on the link on the home page.
Girls basketball wins first-ever regional title to advance to state final four Feb 22, 2008 Down by nine points with less than a minute to play, the Lady Panthers mounted a furious comeback to defeat Fort Worth Christian 49-48 tonight. Parish shut down the Cardinal offense in the final minute and took their only lead of the second half with only six seconds remaining. The Lady Panthers denied Fort Worth Christian a final shot.
Lucy Keith went five for five from the free throw line, and Chesnie Brackens scored a breakaway lay-up in the Lady Panthers’ rally. Keith led Parish’s scoring with 20 points.
Parish will play Tomball Concordia Lutheran on Friday, February 29, at 1pm in San Antonio. Concordia defeated San Antonio Christian by a score of 44-24 in their regional playoff game. The TAPPS 5A state title game is Saturday, March 1, at 5pm, also in San Antonio.
Soccer playoff season ends at state semifinal Feb 22, 2008 The Panthers’ boys soccer team advanced to a school-best TAPPS state tournament before falling to Tomball Concordia Lutheran, 2-0, this morning in the semifinals at Baylor University in Waco. Parish had a record-setting season highlighted by last Monday’s thrilling penalty kick victory over Fort Worth Christian to qualify for state.
Along the way, the Panthers won the TAPPS district championship, Alex Kaiser was named the district’s Offensive Co-MVP, Michael Delong was the Defensive MVP, Zach Rickoff and Cristian Solis were named first-team all-district with Dillon Hoelscher, Trevor Ferre, Miguel Melgarejo, Coleton Stymiest, John Beasley, Luke Sparks and Millad Mortazavi named second team all-district.
Girls basketball to play in TAPPS regional today Feb 22, 2008 The Lady Panthers play Fort Worth Christian at 5:30 p.m. this evening at John Paul II in the TAPPS Class 5A state regional championship. Parish senior Lucy Keith scored 21 points in a bi-district playoff win over Arlington Grace Prep, 53-34, at Panther Gym last Friday. Whitney Keith added 12 points, and Chesnie Brackens scored 10.
Parish’s stifling defense held Grace Prep to 10 points or less in every quarter. The Lady Panthers have won their last seven games and 13 of their last 14.
Boys soccer: State tourney bound Feb 2008 Parish has advanced to a first ever TAPPS Class 5A boys state soccer tournament after defeating Fort Worth Christian in penalty kicks Monday afternoon. Parish plays in the semifinals against Tomball Concordia Lutheran at 9 a.m. Friday in Waco. If Parish wins, the Panthers advance to the state final at 11 a.m. Saturday at Baylor.
In a thrilling, 3-2, second-round playoff victory over FWC, Parish rallied from an 0-2 deficit to win 13-12 in penalty kicks. The final penalty kick was by senior Braeger Moore. After regulation and two, 10-minute overtimes ended, Parish and FWC remained in a 2-2 tie. Parish senior Alex Kaiser scored both Parish goals, the game-tying goal with a minute and a half left to play. The shootout went 18 rounds before Moore scored the winning goal following a save by goalie Michael Delong.
District champs start playoffs at home Feb 14, 2008 The Lady Panthers host a TAPPS state playoff game against Arlington Grace Prep at 7 p.m. Friday at Panther Gym. Parish (21-7) is coming off its second-consecutive District 2-5A championship. The Panthers are ranked No. 14 in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches statewide Large Private School poll. If Parish advances past Grace Prep, it will play the Fort Worth Christian-Tyler Grace winner on Feb. 22 at John Paul II.
Boys soccer springs to playoffs Feb 14, 2008 Coming off a district 2-5A championship and led by one of North Texas’ top goal scorers, senior Alex Kaiser, the Panthers (12-4-3) will meet Fort Worth Christian (8-6-9) in the TAPPS state playoffs 3 p.m. Saturday at Argyle Liberty Christian. Parish has returned to the playoffs with a high-scoring offense led by Kaiser (17 goals), Miguel Melgarejo (six goals), Luke Sparks (five goals) and Millad Mortazavi (six assists).
National Signing Day Parish Style Feb 6, 2008 Parish seniors Lucy Keith, Cecilio Carter and Alex Henderson signed formal athletic scholarships Wednesday on the traditional first day to sign a national letter-of-intent. Keith will play soccer at Texas. Henderson will play football and run track at Dordt College (IA) and Carter will play football at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. full story...
TAPPS Swimming & Diving Champs Feb 4, 2008 The girls’ swimming and diving team repeated as TAPPS Division 2 5A/4A state champions with five, first-place finishes. The Panthers won three individual events and two relays to win first in the overall girls standings by 24 points at the San Antonio meet Feb. 2.
The girls won the 400-yard freestyle and 200 medley relays. Seniors Hayley Hatfield, Grace Kelsoe and Callie Cutler teamed with sophomore Marylyn Toledo in the 200 Medley Relay. Sophomore Sallie Weir teamed with Cutler, Hatfield and Toledo in the 400 Free Relay.
Toledo was first in the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly. Hatfield was first in the 100 free and second in the 200 free.
Junior divers Kristen Stevenson and Chelsea Jones were second and third, respectively.
The boys finished sixth in state team totals. Freshman diver Daniel Pappas was third while sophomore Evan Hall was third in the 200 IM and sixth in the 100 backstroke. Pappas added a fifth in the 100 fly. Hall and Pappas teamed with Andrew Mozley and junior Dakota Smith for a fourth-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay. Pappas, Hall Mozley and junior Logan Klein had a seventh-place finish in the 200 medley relay.
Parish swimmers/divers off to state Jan 31, 2008 The Parish girls will defend their TAPPS Class 4A state swimming championship this Friday and Saturday in San Antonio. Nine girls qualified for state in 10 different events. In the boys' division, Parish has eight qualifiers in seven events. The Panthers are led by a trio of relay teams including Callie Cutler, Grace Kelsoe, Marylyn Toledo, Hayley Hatfield, Elise Budagher, Kate McDowell and Sallie Weir. Toledo and Hatfield will challenge for individual first-place finishes, and divers Chelsea Jones and Kristen Stevenson have state title aspirations.
Parish boys Daniel Pappas, Andrew Mozley, Dakota Smith, Evan Hall, Jeff Hogan, Logan Klein, Braeger Moore and Ben Buchner qualified in a relays and individual events.
February: Playoff time for basketball, soccer Jan 25, 2008 The defending TAPPS District 2-5A girls basketball team and Parish’s boys and girls soccer teams are eying state playoff berths in February. The Lady Panthers’ are ranked No. 9 in the large private school state girls basketball poll by the Lone Star Christian Sports Network.
The Lady Panthers head into the second half of district on top of the standings. Parish plays host to First Baptist on Jan. 29 and has Senior Night against Dallas Christian on Feb. 5 to end the regular district season Feb. 8 at Tyler Gorman.
In soccer, Parish’s boys have taken the lead in district with an 8-2-1 record and in points (25-21) over second-place Dallas Christian. The Panthers play Fort Worth Christian at home Jan. 29 and have Senior Night on Jan. 31 against FW Southwest Christian. A strong finish to remain in first would give the Panthers a first-round playoff bye.
The Lady Panthers’ soccer team also expects to earn a playoff berth. Parish has won four of its last five with shutouts. The Lady Panthers finish the season on the road against Ovilla Christian and Garland Christian before the playoffs begin Feb. 9.
The Parish boys basketball team has its final two home games Jan. 29 and Senior Night on Feb. 5.
Swimmers win TAPPS regional Jan 22, 2008 Parish’s girls swim team took its second-consecutive TAPPS Class 4A regional swim title in Mansfield last Friday. Senior Hayley Hatfield and sophomore Marylyn Toledo each won four first-place medals--two individuals each and two winning relays.
Hatfield won the 100 and 200 freestyle while Toledo was first in the 200 intermediate and 100 butterfly. Both were on Parish’s winning 200 medley relay and 400 free relay. Senior Grace Kelsoe took first in the 100 breastroke.
The boys also got several strong performances to take third place.
Nearly 20 swimmers advanced to the TAPPS state meet Feb. 1-2 in San Antonio. Parish is the defending 4A girls state champ.
Diving for another title Jan 17, 2008 Parish girls’ swimmers try to defend their 2007 TAPPS state and regional title by beginning at the TAPPS regional this Friday and Saturday in Mansfield. With about two dozen boys and girls competing, Parish hopes three-fourths will advance to the state competition Feb 1-2 in San Antonio.
The girls team will be led in individual and relay events by Marylyn Toledo, Hayley Hatfield, Callie Cutler, Grace Kelsoe, Sallie Weir, Kate McDowell and Elise Budagher. Divers Chelsea Jones and Kristen Stevenson will compete against each other and the field for the top two spots.
Leading the boys will be diver Daniel Pappas along with swimmers Evan Hall, Andrew Mozley, Dakota Smith, Logan Klein, Braeger Moore and Jeff Hogan.
Lady Panthers get No. 3 ranking Jan 14, 2008 The Lady Panthers are ranked No. 3 in The Dallas Morning News’ most recent girls basketball Private School poll. Parish Episcopal defeated fifth-ranked Dallas Christian, 59-54, on the road last Friday. Senior Lucy Keith scored 23 points, and her sophomore sister Whitney scored 22 points. Parish also defeated 2-5A’s second-place Tyler Grace, 59-35, last week to give Grace its only district loss.
Parish (13-6, 6-0) leads TAPPS District 2-5A and plays host to Tyler T.K. Gorman at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Panther Gym. Parish’s boys play Gorman at 7:30.

Hosting Hoops Dec 21, 2007 The Panthers’ girls and boys basketball teams will host the Parish Episcopal Holiday Classic from Dec. 27-29. Games will be played throughout the day Dec. 27-28 at Panther Gym. The girls’ championship is set for 5 p.m. Dec. 29 and the boys championship will be at 6:30 p.m.
The girls’ field includes the state-ranked Lady Panthers as well as ESD, Fort Worth Nolan, Highland Park, Greenhill, Carrollton R.L. Turner, Rockwall Heath and Greenhill.
The Lady Panthers’ first-round game is against Bishop Dunne at 2 p.m. Dec. 27.
The 16-team boys’ field will have an international flavor with two teams from an Australian club participating. The field also includes Lovejoy, Fort Worth Southwest and Tulsa Holland Hall. The Panthers’ first-round game is 12:30 p.m. Dec. 27 against Rockwall Christian.

Toledo Sets Meet Records at TISCA Dec 21, 2007 Led by sophomore Marylyn Toledo’s meet record times, Parish’s girls swim team finished 12th in a strong field of 30 teams at the TISCA Class 4A meet in Frisco on Dec. 14-15. The Texas Independent Swim Coaches Association meet had more than 400 swimmers representing nearly 80 North Texas-area boys and girls teams.
Nine Parish swimmers advanced to the meet finals. Toledo won two individual firsts in setting meet and pool records on her 100 butterfly and a meet record on her 200 IM.
Hayley Hatfield and Evan Hall also earned individual points for Parish. Two relay teams with Callie Cutler, Grace Kelsoe, Sallie Weir, Toledo and Hatfield also helped the girls point total. In the boys, Daniel Pappas, Dakota Smith, Andrew Mozely and Evan Hall got points in the 400 freestyle relay.
Coach Lia Oberstar-Brown noted most Parish swimmers posted faster times than they did at last year’s TAPPS state meet and she expects continued success building toward the 2008 TAPPS meet.
Got Game: Hoops, soccer, swimming Dec 5, 2007 Parish’s winter sports are in full swing. The Lady Panthers’ girls basketball team defeated state-ranked John Paul II on Tuesday and is ranked No. 14 in the latest statewide Texas Association of Basketball Coaches’ Private Schools Poll. Parish hosts No.8-ranked Fort Worth Nolan on Thursday before opening TAPPS District 2-5A competition against Shelton at Panther Gym on Dec. 11.
The boys basketball team, which won the Leggett Coca-Cola Tournament in November, plays in the Clifton High School tourney this weekend before opening TAPPS District 2-5A competition against Shelton at Panther Gym on Dec. 11.
In swimming and diving, Parish is coming off a successful first month of competition to prepare for the North Texas 4A TISCA Invitational in Frisco on Dec. 14-15. Parish will compete in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD New Year’s Classic on Jan. 11.
In soccer, the girls host Dallas Christian at 4 p.m. Thursday and the boys play Tyler Gorman at home at 6 p.m.
Parish Football: A season to remember Nov 30, 2007 The Panthers’ benchmark football season lasted all the way until the quarterfinals of the TAPPS Division II state playoffs. But for the Parish program, the 2007 season will be remembered as the beginning and not the ending.
“We went as far as I think we could physically go,” Panthers coach Scott Nady said. “We’re a second-year program with a lot of young guys and some great senior leaders. But we’ll be back bigger, better and stronger next year.” full story...
Panther Football Advances to Regional Playoffs Nov 19, 2007 Parish plays in the second-round of the TAPPS Class 5A state football playoffs at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Grand Prairie’s Gopher Bowl. The Panthers (9-3) meet Argyle Liberty Christian (9-2) with the winner advancing to the 5A semifinals.
Parish joins the list of Texas traditions on the Thanksgiving Holiday: The Cowboys are the featured national TV game at Texas Stadium. Texas and Texas A&M annually renew their rivalry. And the goal for every high school football team in the state: Be playing at Thanksgiving, and that means you must be having a good season.
Parish defeated Arlington Grace Prep, 28-12, at Parish on Nov. 16 for its first football playoff victory in the school’s two-year varsity history. Parish junior running back Andre Brackens was named Honorable Mention Defensive Player of the Week by The Dallas Morning News. As a defensive back, Brackens had two interceptions and returned one 25 yards for a touchdown. He also rushed for 185 yards. He ran for an 18-yard touchdown and caught a 47-yard touchdown pass.
If Parish wins, the Panthers play the Concordia-Houston Second Baptist winner next week.
Boys Basketball: Tournament Champs Home opener Saturday Nov 19, 2007 The Panthers won the Leggett Coca-Cola Tournament boys basketball tournament in East Texas on Nov. 17. Parish was undefeated in the tournament and junior Javier Carter was named the Most Valuable Player. Senior Jonathan Pirkey and sophomore Adam Weyand were selected All-Tournament.
Parish plays its first home game against Carrollton R.L. Turner at 6 p.m. Saturday.
Congratulations Lady Panthers Nov 9, 2007 TAPPS State Volleyball Final Four Parish came within one game of reaching the TAPPS Class 5A state final before being eliminated today at the state tournament at TCU’s Rickel Building. Parish (25-14) lost a back-and-forth match to Houston Second Baptist in the semifinals before the Lady Panthers’ season came to an end. Parish won the third and fourth games after falling behind 0-2. Second Baptist won the fifth game, 15-12.
“It was an awesome run,” Lady Panthers coach Jenny Neuhoff said. “Other than winning a state championship, it couldn’t have been better. We had our district’s MVP, Newcomer of the Year, four girls on first-team all-district, three on second-team and one honorable mention.”
Parish sophomore Whitney Keith led the banner season as the TAPPS District 2-5A MVP. Freshman and first-year Parish student Holly Hopkins was the district’s top newcomer.
It was a great year for seniors Krissy Daniel, Chrissy Luke and Camie Robertson, who helped set the foundation for Parish establishing itself as one of the state’s top programs.
Pack Panther Stadium on Friday Nov 14, 2007 Parish hosts its first-ever TAPPS playoff football game against Arlington Grace Prep at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Wheat Field. The Panthers (8-3) earned the home-field playoff advantage after getting second-place in District II.
“The state playoffs in Texas are comprised of three things,” Parish coach Scott Nady said. “Bright lights, loser goes home and huge crowds. For us, having a huge crowd to support us could mean the difference between winning and losing.”
In just its second varsity season, Parish leads North Texas private schools with a 47-point per game average. Parish is No. 3 in the area total offensive yards and has the No. 3-ranked defense. Parish is led by running back tandem Trey Morse and Andre Brackens, who’ve combined for 2,700 yards rushing and 39 touchdowns. Grace (5-4) is led by highly regarded sophomore quarterback Morgan Kenyon.
If Parish advances, it plays the winner between Argyle Liberty and First Baptist. All TAPPS playoff games beginning in the second round are played at neutral sites.
In accordance with TAPPS playoff regulations, admission for all guests at Friday’s game will be charged ($5 adults/$3 students).
State-bound: Lady Panthers reach volleyball semis Nov 5, 2007 Parish will play Houston Second Baptist in the TAPPS Class 5A state semifinals at 9 a.m. Friday at TCU. The Lady Panthers advanced with a state quarterfinal victory over Midland Christian last Saturday. Parish lost the first two games, trailed midway through the fourth before finally winning in the fifth game.
“You can call us the “come back” team,” Parish coach Jennifer Neuhoff said. “I think everyone in the stands, and the other team, felt that Midland had it in the bag but, in the third game, the girls rallied behind each other with a tremendous amount of support from the bench being led by junior Rebecca Stockdale and senior Chrissy Luke.”
Reaching its first state volleyball tournament in only its second year of varsity play, the Parish-Second Baptist winner plays the winner between Argyle Liberty-Houston Northland at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at TCU for the TAPPS 5A championship.
Panther Sports Update Oct 30, 2007 Upcoming: Homecoming on TV Parish hosts WFAA-TV’s Prime Time Pep Rally on Friday, then the Panthers play Shelton at 7:30 p.m. at Parish’ s Sports Complex. The late afternoon pep rally will be featured live during the Channel 8 Update at 5:00. The Panthers Booster Club is planning raffles, contests and concessions immediately following school until it’s time to fill the gym for the pep rally.
In its second-year of varsity competition, the Panthers (7-2) can clinch a TAPPS Division II playoff spot with a victory. Parish won its first seven games before suffering its first lost on a field goal in the final seconds at Dallas Christian.

Volleyball Advances to TAPPS Regional The Lady Panthers play Midland Christian at 6 p.m. Saturday in the TAPPS Class 5A state regional tournament at Argyle Liberty Christian near Denton. The Lady Panthers swept Lubbock Trinity Christian, 3-0, in the first round of the playoffs last Saturday. Parish already has won its first District 2-5A championship.
Cross Country Success The Panthers’ girls cross country team took sixth-place in the TAPPS Class 5A state cross country meet last Saturday in San Antonio. Senior Kelsey McDonnough took ninth place in the individual competition and received All-State accolades. Cozette Kale and Maddie Jones finished in the Top 30 and Katie McBee, Jennifer Bailey and Katie Johnson also helped the Panthers to their Top 10 state finish.
Undefeated Panthers host T.K. Gorman Oct 12, 2007 Bolstered by its undefeated season, Parish hosts T.K. Gorman (Tyler) in district football competition tonight. Parish (6-0) is contending for a post-season playoff berth in its second varsity season. The Panthers started district play with wins against Dallas Lutheran and Prestonwood Christian and will host the Crusaders with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
Parish’s defense is ranked No. 1 in North Texas private schools by allowing only 93.8 yards per game. Parish is No. 4 in offensive total yards with 418.6 per game.
Parish volleyball wins district: Featured in DMN Oct 11, 2007 Parish clinched at least a share of the TAPPS District 2-5A volleyball championship with 3-0 victory over First Baptist. Parish can win the district title outright with one more victory in its last three district games. Parish’s final district home game is Oct. 16 against Dallas Christian.
Parish also made its first appearance in The Dallas Morning News’ Class 4A-OTHERS as the No. 10 team in North Texas. The Lady Panthers also were the lead to the DMN weekly volleyball notebook.
Undefeated Panthers take on Prestonwood Oct 5, 2007 The Parish Panther football squad plays at perennial TAPPS power Prestonwood Christian at 7:30 p.m. tonight. Parish (5-0) is contending for a post-season playoff berth in its second varsity season. The Panthers opened Division II District 2 competition with a 56-15 victory over Lutheran last Friday. Prestonwood won the TAPPS Division III state title in 2005 and defeated Parish, 54-14, last season.
Parish’s defense is ranked No. 1 in North Texas private schools by allowing only 93.2 yards per game. Parish is No. 5 in offensive total yards with 400.8 per game.
Volleyball wins 7th in row; PCA next Oct 3, 2007 The Lady Panthers defeated Lutheran, 3-0, on Tuesday night to solidify their hold on first place in TAPPS District 2-5A volleyball. Parish (18-11, 9-0) defeated Lutheran for the second-consecutive district meeting. Parish tied Lutheran for second in district last year but lost a tie-breaker game to get the third seed.
Parish plays at defending district champ Plano Prestonwood at 7 p.m. Thursday. Parish stopped PCA’s 39-game district winning streak on Sept. 11.
Keith to play soccer at Texas Oct 1, 2007 Parish senior Lucy Keith has orally committed to play soccer at Texas.
Keith is considered one of the nation's top youth players and plays for the Dallas Texans '90 Red team that finished second in the Under 17 division at the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships held in July in Frisco.
"I chose the university for its outstanding academics and competitive business school because I am interested in business as a major," Keith said. "They have a top ten soccer program. More importantly, my mother, aunts and grandparents all attended UT. I am very excited for the opportunity I have ahead of me and can't wait for next fall."
The first day a soccer player can sign a national letter of intent is Feb. 6. Keith joins Parish graduate Leslie Briggs as an NCAA Division I soccer recruit. Briggs signed with North Carolina's recruiting Class of '07.
Back at home: Panthers host Lutheran Sept 26, 2007 Ranked in The Dallas Morning News’ top area private schools, Parish opens its TAPPS Division II District 2 competition by hosting Lutheran at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The Panthers (4-0) are ranked No. 5 in the DMN rankings for North Texas’ Large Private Schools. Parish is coming off a 47-0 victory last week over North Dallas. Parish has three-consecutive shutouts. Lutheran (2-2) defeated Parish, 22-14, last year in Parish’s first varsity season.
The Panther Cub Club is on the Loose!! The Parish Athletic Department welcomes all future Panthers, and all 1st–4th graders will receive their very own “Cub Club tee” when they come to their first varsity sporting event. Parents, bring those Cubs out, and support Parish Athletics!
Parish to host T.K. Gorman in home match Sept 24, 2007 Undefeated and leading TAPPS District 2-5A, the Lady Panthers volleyball team plays host to T.K Gorman at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25. Parish defeated Tyler Grace and Dallas Christian to win its first six district games and ends the first half of district play against Gorman. Parish starts the second half of district at Shelton on Thursday.
First-place volleyball at home Tuesday Sept 17, 2007 The Lady Panthers volleyball team plays host to Tyler Grace at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18. Parish is coming off one of its most successful 10 days in the program’s short history. Parish is leading TAPPS District 2-5A with victories over First Baptist, defending champ Prestonwood Christian and Lutheran.
Sophomore standout Whitney Keith was one of only five players who received Honorable Mention in The Dallas Morning News’ Player of the Week award announced Monday. Keith had 26 kills in two victories last week.
Parish Football ranked No. 5 Sept 17, 2007 The Panthers (3-0) are ranked No. 5 in The Dallas Morning News’ latest rankings for North Texas’ Large Private Schools. Parish is coming off an impressive 47-0 victory last Saturday over John Paul II. The second-year varsity program plays North Dallas at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Dallas’ Loos Stadium.
Parish ends streak Sept 14, 2007 The Lady Panthers defeated Plano Prestonwood, in a five-game thriller this week. Parish takes the lead of TAPPS 2-5A by beating the defending champions, 25-21, 21-25, 19-25, 27-25, 15-9, on Tuesday.
Prestonwood had won 39-consecutive district games dating back to 2003. The Lady Panthers also defeated First Baptist on Thursday night. The Lady Panthers’ next game is at home Tuesday (Sept. 18) against Tyler Grace Community.

Panthers 55, Patriots 0 Sept 7, 2007 Parish running backs Andre Brackens and Trey Morse combined for 211 yards rushing and five touchdowns to lead the Panthers to a 55-0 victory over Thomas Jefferson. The Panther offense finished with 303 yards total offense, while the defense was dominant in holding the Patriots to negative yardage for the night.
The Panther football squad's next game is Saturday, September 15, against John Paul II High School. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Murphy's Tom Kimbrough Stadium.
Lady Panthers hit critical point Sept 6, 2007 Parish’s volleyball team heads into the Prestonwood Christian Academy tournament Friday and Saturday to prepare for a critical point in the TAPPS season. The Lady Panthers (8-7) play at TAPPS rival Lutheran at 6 p.m. Thursday. Parish split with Lutheran in district last year and played a second-place, tie-breaker match that Lutheran won in five games.
The Panthers are coming off a victory over Shelton this week and a strong effort (2-2) in last weekend’s Hill Country Tournament.
After the PCA tourney, Parish will play host to TAPPS rival Prestonwood at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Panthers Gym.

Parish 24, Ranchview 8 Sept 3, 2007 Parish junior quarterback Brant Costilla and receiver Alex Henderson connected for three touchdown passes in a 24-8 victory over Carrollton Ranchview. Parish (1-0) started its second varsity season with a balanced offense. Costilla ended with 185 yards passing, and junior running back Andre Brackens had 88 of 172 yards rushing.
Parish, which lost to Ranchview in the opener last year, took a 7-0 lead on a 44-yard scoring pass from Costilla to Henderson. Parish built a 14-0 first-half lead on an 11-yard scoring pass between Costilla and Henderson.
After Ranchview pulled within 17-8 early in the fourth quarter, Costilla added the final score on a 50-yard pass to Henderson.
Headed to Hill Country Aug 29, 2007 The Lady Panthers (5-4) head to Fredericksburg for the Hill Country Tournament this weekend. Parish plays against Uvalde in the first-round 7 p.m. Friday. The Panthers are coming off a convincing, 3-0, victory over Garland Christian on Tuesday night. It will be the Panthers’ first appearance in the Hill Country tourney venue near the LBJ Ranch in Central Texas. The game will be played at Kerrville Tivy and Fredericksburg high schools.
Parish’s next home game is 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept 4, against Shelton.
Back from Bridgeport Aug 24, 2007 The Panthers’ football team returned Thursday afternoon from a week of practice and boarding in Bridgeport. Parish has its second scrimmage 7 p.m. tonight (Fri, Aug 24) at Bishop Dunne. Parish opens its season at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 31 at home against Carrollton Ranchview.
Parish players and coaches have been in training camp in Bridgeport since Sunday. They returned with anticipation building toward their second varsity season. Panthers running back Trey Morse was listed among the area’s top private school players to watch in The Dallas Morning News high school football special section Thursday.
Parish heads to Hockaday on Friday Aug 23, 2007 The Lady Panthers (3-3) play at Hockaday at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug 24. Parish is coming off a convincing victory over Arlington Pantego Christian, 3-1, on Tuesday. In the Keller Fossil Ridge Kickoff Classic last weekend, Parish competed well with top schools in North Texas. The Panthers defeated Irving MacArthur but lost to perennial volleyball power Justin Northwest and Springtown.
The Lady Panthers’ varsity match at Ursuline for Thursday, Aug 23, has been canceled.
Parish off to 2-0 start Aug 17, 2007 The Lady Panthers rallied to defeat the Oakridge Owls at Parish Gym on Thursday night. Parish (2-0) heads into the Keller Fossil Ridge Kickoff Classic on Friday and Saturday.
In a grueling five games against Oakridge, the Lady Panthers fell behind 1-2 before the difficult comeback task of winning the last two. Parish won the final two sets, 25-18, to tie the score and took the fifth game, 15-11. Parish won the first game 25-21 but lost the second two games 21-25 and 23-25.
Parish plays Irving MacArthur at 1 p.m. Friday to begin pool play.
Parish soars Aug 15, 2007 The Lady Panthers opened their season with a convincing victory over the Home School Athletic Association on Tuesday night. Parish won in three sets, 25-17, 25-15 and 25-7.
“The girls played very well,” Parish coach Jenny Neuhoff said. “Comparing it to last year, our passing and serving was 100 percent better.”
Parish (1-0) plays host to Arlington Oak Ridge at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Panthers’ gym. Parish has high hopes for competing in the Keller Fossil Ridge Kickoff Classic Tournament on Friday and Saturday. Parish’s first-round game is against Springtown at 5 p.m. Friday at Keller.
Go West, Young Men, Go West! July 2007 A dozen Parish students explored the football and cultural world of the West Coast this summer. Led by Parish coach Scott Nady, the group covered 3,600 miles in 21 days. They survived a bus breakdown and re-routed to Southern California through a Utah airport. But they participated in summer camps at Oklahoma, Colorado, UCLA and USC.
In addition to the football, the players went boogie boarding on Venice Beach, hiked in the Rocky Mountains and swam in natural spring waters.
“Six of these boys had never seen the Pacific Ocean or the Rocky Mountains,” Nady said. “The confidence and training our kids gained was absolutely incredible. It was a magical trip and one I will remember for a lifetime.”
For his strong showing, Parish quarterback Brant Costilla was mentioned in a scout.com article at the UCLA camp and was featured in a story on www.texasprepxtra.com
